Gary is an emerging market expert with over a decade of experience across global emerging and frontier markets. He was previously Director of Trading at the Standard Bank Group where he held various positions across Johannesburg, London and New York over a period of 12 years. In addition to his research and trading responsibilities, he took an active business development role within the joint venture between Standard Bank and ICBC of China that began in 2015. Among many pioneering experiences: he was an originator of the Nigerian NDF market; set-up the Bank’s Argentina business after the 2015 election of Mauricio Macri; and led the development and launch of the ICBC Standard Belt and Road Indices.  

 

He holds a BSC (Double Honors) in Physics and Mathematics from Wits University and a global MBA from Columbia and London Business School.
